# Connecting Board to Host

To connect your host PC to SBC-MB520/SBC-MB720 using IoT Yocto for debugging and development, you have several options:

* **UART Port**: Access the Boot ROM, bootloader, and kernel console via the `UART0` port.
* **USB**: The default configuration of SBC-MB520/SBC-MB720 offers:
  * **Image Download**: Program on-board storage with Genio Tools through USB.
  * **Ethernet Connectivity**: Provides a virtual Ethernet connection to the host via various protocols, enabling networking services like **ssh** and **scp** for shell access and file transfer.
  * **Debugging Capabilities**: Functions as an Android Debug Bridge (ADB) device for debugging.

### Serial configuration

Different stages of the boot process utilise different baud rates:

| Console            | Baud Rate | Purpose                                                                       |
| ------------------ | --------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Download Agent     | 921600    | Download progress log from download agent (`lk.bin`) when using `genio-flash` |
| Boot ROM | 115200 | SoC boot ROM logs and messages |
| Bootloader Console | 921600    | U-Boot console for debugging and boot configurations                          |
| Linux Console      | 921600    | kernel messages and inux console                                              |

Settings other than baud rate are the same between the boot firmware and Linux console:

* Data Bits: 8
* Stop Bits: 1
* Parity: None
* Flow control: None

## Physical Ethernet

### Connecting to the Board

You can connect to the board using SSH. The `rity-demo-image` includes an SSH server, allowing a Linux host to establish a connection. Follow the steps below to connect:

#### Using mDNS

If mDNS is configured, use the following command:

```bash
$ ssh root@sd520.local
```

```bash
$ ssh root@sd720.local
```

#### Using the Board IP

Alternatively, connect using the board's IP address configured for SSH:

```bash
$ ssh root@192.168.96.1
```
